There are a number of ethnic group in India that are economically and socially deprived such groups are now recognized as Scheduled Tribes. The STs people belong to various ethnic, religious and linguistic groups. These tribal groups or the STs mostly lived in the forest or hilly areas that are not suitable for settled agriculture. They are closely related to the forests. The Indian term for them is the Adivasis. Tribal communities of India immensely vary from each other. According to data of a census, there are around 365 Tribes in India. These tribal groups are classified into three main groups including the Dravidian, Mongoloid and the Turko-Iranian tribe.
