The Taj Mahal was built by Mughal Emperor Shah Jahan in memory of his wife, Mumtaz Mahal.The building is in the city of Agra,Uttar Pradesh. In Arabic, the Taj Mahal is known as "crown of palaces". It is said to be the jewel of Islamic art in a nation that is predominantly Hindu.Taj Mahal is widely recognized as "the jewel of Muslim art in India and one of the universally admired masterpieces of the world's heritage".It is also the house of Shah Jahan.
