Explanation:

The atmosphere is the layer of gases around the Earth. It is held in place by Earth's gravity. It is made up mainly of nitrogen (78.1%). It also has plentiful oxygen (20.9%) and small amounts of argon (0.9%), carbon dioxide (~ 0.035%), water vapor, and other gases

Answer:

Structure of Atmosphere

on the basis of structure ,the atmosphere can be divided into 5 layers. These are:

  1. Troposphere-The troposphere is the lowest layer of the atmosphere. It lies closest to the Earth's surface. Its upper boundary is called the tropopause. The term troposphere has been derived from the Greek word 'tropos' meaning mixing or change the turn. This layer is suitable for human habitation.
  2. Stratosphere:. The stratosphere is the second layer between the tropopause and the stratopause. It extends on an average between 13 km and 50km.
  3. Mesosphere. : The mesosphere is the zone in the Earth's atmosphere lying at an altitude of some 80km above the Earth's surface. It forms a boundary zone between the Mesosphere and the lonosphere or thermosphere.
  4. Thermosphere or lonosphere. : With further increase in altitude beyond the Mesopause, a temperature increases rapidly is called ionosphere.
  5. Exosphere. : Exosphere is the uppermost layer of the atmosphere of the earth . The exact height of the top of the exosphere is not certain. The atmosphere in this region is highly predominant with rarefield hydrogen and helium gases
