Blood is a fluid medium that helps in transportation of different materials throughout the body. It is made of two components.

  1. The cell component that includes the RBC(Red Blood Cell), WBC(White Blood Cells) and blood platelets.
  2. The liquid Components called the Plasma.

\sf{Components\:of\:the\:Blood}

\u{\star{\:\textsf{RBC:-}}}RBCs are cells containing the protein molecule haemoglobin. Haemoglobin transports oxygen to different parts of the body and is known as the respiratory carrier.

\underline\green{\star{\:\textsf{WBCs:-}}}These are the defence forces of the body. WBC destroy harmful bacteria and dead cells. They protect our body against infections.

\underline\green{\star{\:\textsf{Platelets:-}}}Platelets help in clotting of blood. They are there to prevent excessive loss of blood if any part of the body gets injured.

\underline\green{\star{\:\textsf{Blood\:Plasma:-}}}Its is a straw-coloured liquid components of blood, that normally holds the blood cells. It makes up about 55% of the body's total blood volume.

\sf{Functions\:of\:Blood}

★Blood helps to distribute the digested food to all parts of the body.

★Circulation of blood (resulting in its distribution in the body) also helps to maintain the body temperature.

★Blood cells, especially the WBCs helps the fight infections.

★Blood also transports carbon dioxide, from the tissues to the lungs.

Blood

Blood, fluid that transports oxygen and nutrients to the cells and carries away carbon dioxide and other waste products. Technically, blood is a transport liquid pumped by the heart (or an equivalent structure) to all parts of the body, after which it is returned to the heart to repeat the process
