There was very close relationship begrandmother.the author and his grandmother were close companions.she bathed him, dress him up and took him to school.the school was attached to a temple and the priest taught the children the alphabet and the morning prayer.on the way back, he and his grandmother would feed stale chapattis they had carried from home to the stray village dogs .thus, under the tender care of his grandmother, the author spend the year of his childhood till they were sent for by his parents who were,by then, well settled in the city.but when he went to the university the relationship between them was snapped.
