Heya friend!!
Rajdeep here...

Wells: Wells are one of the cheapest form of irrigation. A well is a hole dug under ground, around which an embankment (of cement) is usually built. The advantages of well irrigation is that, farmers can use water from the well whenever they want. But, if the underground water is brackish (salty), then the water cannot be used for drinking and irrigation, but can be used for washing clothes and utensils. Generally water is pulled out of wells through the Bucket system using pulleys. If the soil is hard, wells are hard to dig. Alluvial soil (soft) favours well irrigation.

Tube wells: Tube wells are different from lined and unlined surface wells. Here, a very deep hole is dug, such that it touches the underground water table. Water is then taken out through an electric pump. So this irrigation is cheaper in places where electricity supply is cheap. However, if underground water is brackish, even tube well irrigation is not possible. Moreover there is regular expenditure on electricity or diesel to operate the pump.

Hope my answer is satisfactory.
Thanks!!
