Answer:

In June, 2014, we organised a three-day camping trip for students doing the Duke of Edinburgh / International Award program, choosing suitable trails and organising campsites, logistics, and resupply.

The hike on the first day was part of our Spring Valley Super Loop trail, crossing a ridge and hiking up and down valleys on the way to our campsite near an abandoned village.

On the second day, we finished off the loop trail, and headed uphill to a line of Great Wall, following a trail that we use for our Pinnacle Tower hike. We didn’t go up to the tower though – too steep! We took an alternative path, heading down past a mysterious cave that houses a shrine and Buddha.

The campsite for the second night was in a chestnut orchard below our Great Wall Spur trail, and we got set up just before a huge storm came over. Luckily the tents were set up, and we were able to shelter from the heavy rain until it was safe to come out and cook dinner.

On the third day of the hike we did the Great Wall Spur trail, heading up a steep path to reach the wall and following it up and over a hill, finishing up quite a few hours later.
