Answer:

In today’s busy life which is full of stress, everyone is looking to find ways to please and relax himself/ herself. Many teenagers and adults found drugs their best source of relaxation as they get tempted by the excitement. Drugs can be found everywhere, and it may seem like everyone's doing them.

Drugs can appear initially to have positive effects like lifting mood, relaxing you or even giving you more energy. However, they will have serious negative impacts on your mental and physical health.

Drugs & Mental Health

Everyone has its own definition of mental health, one may think of control, happiness as a sign of healthy mind. Mental ill health is the opposite of this – it causes problems and creates barriers to being happy.

People use psychoactive drugs like cannabis, alcohol, ecstasy and heroine to change their mood, as these drugs arouse certain emotions. This change in emotions and behaviour is only because these drugs change mind. These drugs have both short-term and long-term effects. You may enjoy short-term effects, but long term effects can be very serious.

Short-term effects

Panic Attacks – This is the period of high anxiety when your heart rate increases, with trembling, sweats, shortness of breath, and a fear of losing control. You may also feel like your surroundings are strange and unreal, or that you are losing your personal identity and sense of reality.

Mood Disorders - You may feel sad, depressed, tired, restless sometime or sometimes impulsive behaviour. This is known as mood disorder.

Long-term effects

Psychoactive drugs may cause serious mental health problems. It might be possible that these drugs may trigger long mental illness.
