Ganesh Chaturthi is celebrated to commemorate the birth of lord Ganesha. Ganesha who is considered to be superior to all Gods is also widely worshipped as the God of wisdom, prosperity and good fortune, and customarily prayed at the beginning of any new venture or at the start of a travel.
Ganesh Chaturthi is best celebrated when you have lots of people around and not only your close circle of friends and family. The best possible way to ensure that, would be by celebrating it in your housing society.

Ganesh Chaturthi is one of the most important festivals of the Hindus. It marks the birth of Lord Ganesha. The festival involves 11 full days of celebration, where the devotees first began by bringing the statue of Lord Ganesh into their homes. They then cleaned their homes and prepare carriages for the bigger statue to be carried around the society.
Even in my locality, the celebration is in full swing. There was a huge crowd in the alleys with people beating drums and some dancing. The statue of the god was put on a pedestal and then taken for a ride along the area, with followers dancing and showering it with flowers. The music from the crowd also entertained the others. Sweets and offerings were made to the god, and on the last day of the festival, the statue is then taken to the river to be submerged.
