Let's Join Hands to Reduce Global Warming

Good morning everyone present. I am going to express my views on ‘Let’s Join Hands to Reduce Global Warming’. Elon Musk has very wisely commented, “We’re running the most dangerous experiment in history right now, which is to see how much carbon dioxide the atmosphere... can handle before there is an environmental catastrophe.”

Our wise elders have given us various maxims to live happily. One of them is ‘Excess of everything is bad.’ This maxim defines the present state of carbon dioxide in our environment quite aptly and relevantly. Excess of this gas in our atmosphere has wreaked havoc with the balance of our environment. Owing to man’s selfish greedy activities, this gas assumed such a dangerous proportion in the atmosphere that if no immediate action is taken, it will soon bring an unmanageable catastrophe.

Global warming has already started affecting the entire world. Climatic changes are noticeable everywhere. Ice is melting worldwide, especially at the Earth’s poles. This includes mountain glaciers, ice sheets covering West Antarctica and Greenland, and Arctic sea ice.

In northern Greenland traditional Inuit culture is already under threat. The sea ice that Inuit use to hunt seals, walruses, and other animals, is not staying as long as it used to. Global warming's impact on sea ice and ocean currents are also altering the distribution of animals. Melting of the huge ice sheet on Greenland will raise the sea-water level by a few feet, leading to submerging of habitable coastal areas and compelling the inhabitants to move farther inside the terrain. This would further have ecological ramifications.

The people of the world must unite and stop global warming from further rising. Green house gases’ emission must immediately be controlled along with the large scale afforestation in all the countries, especially the developing countries.

The people all across the world, especially in the developing countries must be encouraged to reduce their carbon footprint and minimize emission of green-house gases into the atmosphere.

If the environment is not given the top priority throughout the world, we will lose it forever; losing it means the annihilation of the entire humankind along with all other life-forms of flora and fauna! Do you want it to happen? If no; kindly start doing as much as you can for the preservation of the environment! Let’s join hands and save our planet from the monster of global warming.

One of the important element which keeps the life going on this earth is oxygen. The life-supporting oxygen is the product which we receive from the trees. Hence, trees are the basic manufacturer of oxygen which helps to grow life on Earth. Since last century there has been immense cutting down of the trees for different uses. The man has been cutting trees so as to make the life easy. In this run, the man himself has become the cause of his downfall. Trees purify the air and help in keeping the atmosphere cool. Cutting down of the trees has encouraged global warming which is a global concern. A rise in temperature has been noticed which is not a good symbol for life on Earth. Hence, tree plantation should be encouraged and the cutting of the trees should be minimized.

One of the most dangerous threats to life on earth is the increase in pollution. Since the last century, the immense increase in pollution in nature has been the cause of many harmful effects. Increase in Global warming, reduction in the quality of air and water and an increase in life-threatening diseases are some of the main effects of pollution. Hence, it is the need of the hour to look into the issue and find alternatives to them.
