Once upon a time there was a boy named Tom. He is nine years old and lives in Tasmania. One morning Tom wished he didn’t have to go to school because there was a test that he didn’t study for. He didn’t study because he was too busy playing Minecraft on his Xbox. Tom was doomed. A few days earlier his mum and dad had told him that if he got bad grades he would have to back to summer school. Tom didn’t like summer school because the last time he went the other boys dared him to jump into the lake. The manager caught him and Tom got into a lot of trouble. Tom really didn’t want to go back to summer school. When it was time to leave for school, Tom pleaded to stay home but his mum said “NO”! When she dropped him off at school she gave him a new pencil and wished him luck on his test. As soon as Tom arrived at his class room the teacher said that the test will be after lunch. At lunch Tom studied really hard, so hard that he forgot to eat. After lunch Tom was really hungry, all he could think about was food. As Tom sat down at his desk he said to himself “I wish my pencil would write everything for me and all the answers will be correct”. When he got his test paper something magical happened! His pencil started to write the answers for him! Tom was amazed… and very relieved. When Tom his test back and saw he got 100% he used his magic pencil for every test. After a few weeks Tom’s magic pencil was too small to write with! Tom’s teacher told him to throw it away and get a new one. Tom didn’t want to throw it away because he knew it was magic but he did what the teacher said. When Tom got home he asked his mum for a new pencil but she said no because it was nearly the end of the term. The next day Tom’s report card came in the mail. Tom did really well in all his subjects and his mum and dad were really proud of him. Later that evening Tom’s dad gave him a present, Tom opened it and it was a new shiny pen. Tom hoped it was a magic pen.
