Vikram Batra was an captain in the Indian army and was known for his services to his country.

Vikram Batra was martyred in the Kargil war when he was trying to save one of his colleagues, a lieutenant. Captain Batra was awarded the Param Vir Chakra on August 15, 1999 for his heroic services and for protecting the land where the war took place. The mountain on which the war took place is now known as Batra top.
