Good morning everyone present. I feel immensely privileged to have got the opportunity to express my views on 'Indian Girls' Potential in the Realms of Space and Related Careers. ‘Space exploration is an intriguing and awe-inspiring field. Astronauts are held in great esteem all over the world. It really requires lifelong commitment and dedication to excellence along with fearlessness to become an astronaut. Women have contributed in this field. Peggy Whitson, Pamela Melroy,  Sunita Williams, Barbara Morgan ,and Kalpana Chawla are some of the renowned names women astronauts. Kalpana Chawla, the Indian origin astronaut from Karnal, Haryana, brought the attention of the entire nation what an Indian girl could do, provided she gets the right environment to fulfill her dreams. More girls in India should study space exploration and related subjects so that they too can make a career in it. There are already many women scientists and workers working at ISRO. For example Nandini Harinath served as deputy operations director on MOM and has worked on 14 missions over 20 years at ISRO (Indian Space Research Organisation), India’s space agency. ISRO should involve more girls and women in their space missions. The government should provide modern space exploration training facilities in all the cities. There is enormous untapped talent in girls in India; Kalpana Chawla has proved it with her example. Now more girls should come forward and explore the limitless space.
