Obesity is a rising concern for the youths and young adults of today’s generation. It is a long-term health condition in which the body fat leaps, beyond normalcy. Symptoms like more consumption of food than body requirements show signs of obesity.
Body Mass Index or BMI is a tool that is used by doctors to assess the appropriate weight of a person based on his or her height, gender and age. If the BMI range is between 25 to 29.9, this is an indication that the person is carrying excessive body weight. If the BMI is beyond 30, then the person is said to be suffering from the chronic health condition of obesity.
Indicators like the waist-to-hip size or the waist-to-height-ratio and the distribution of fat on a person’s body also determine the person’s health conditions or whether he or she is prone to obesity. Obesity is the accumulation of fat on the adipose tissue, which has alarming consequences. Deposition of fat is usually around the trunk or the waist or at times around the periphery.
The rapid and alarming rise in obesity has led to accelerated death rate and unfavourable health conditions among people. Obesity can lead to premature death, as well.
