Dear friends, as you all know today we are celebrating science day. On this occasion I wish to congratulate our scientists for the great progress they have made and for the great facilities they have provided to us in the field of science and technology.
Computers have changed the life of man. They have made everything easier. Work can be done much faster and with accuracy with the help of computers. A knowledge of computers is very essential today. Everywhere, work has been computerised. So a person without the knowledge of computers feels out of place. So every child should be taught how to use a computer from class 1.
The knowledge of computer will be an asset for him. It is easier to start learning at that age. A child who knows how to use a computer will be more smart and quick in his work. He will be exposed to the latest technology from childhood. So when he grows up, he will be a master in the field. Computer enhances many skills and helps to bring about faster learning.
But a child exposed to computers at the tender age may not be so agile and active. He may miss out the contact with the practical world of reality as he will be more preoccupied with a machine. Children may face health problems due to lack of exercise. If they learn to use computers at that age they will prefer to play computer games and may not pay much attention to outdoor games. Thus they may not learn to be sociable or benefit from the fresh air outside.
So the use of technology may be very useful but it cannot replace books. Books are very valuable and still hold an important position in education.
