So I have had these really weird but totally exciting experiences while travelling in a train. I would narrate one of those, I once traveled in a train without a ticket, not out of choice but by chance. I had missed my stipulated train, happily unawares while gorging on some lovely chicken lollipops. and when realization struck me! it was too late. The last train of my route was about to leave and I had to jump in without a ticket. what ensued was a 12 hour journey playing hide and seek with the TTE in AC 2 tier. But it was not very cumbersome as compared to what I feel would have happened if I had tried talking to the TTE.
If the TTE had been greedy then he would have charged an insane amount as fine of which he would definitely pocket some or the entire amount if he is not giving a bill, and if luck is on your side then you might even get a seat. But the chances of finding a good samaritan of a TTE is like finding a needle in a haystack.
So try not dealing with him if you do not have enough moolah on you but if you do and are happy to part with it then you can give it a shot and try coaxing the guy in giving you a seat with the payment of the fare and the stipulated fine.
