For collecting my data on social works , I used to meet different social workers. However, I was never influenced by any of them because after meeting them I got to know that most of their work was hyped just for publicity.
One day, I met Abdul Sattar Edhi who was known as the richest poor man. I was astonished as all the social workers were groomed but this man in front of me stood like a common man with most simplest of clothes. I saw some cradles in the city where Edhi had mentioned that please do not kill your children, give them to us. Edhi once found a dead baby in a garbage. Since then Edhi wanted that new lives should not be killed hence he set cradles in the city. The people who do not want their children leave the child in these cradles. Edhi brings them to his care and ensures that every child grows in the best possible manner. Apart from this, I saw how he had set up systems to help all of Pakistan when in need and had nothing for himself. I have never found such a kind person ever since.
Once, in the winter evening, a man was heading towards his home on his bicycle when he saw an old lady, standing on the side of the road. He saw that she required some help. So, he stopped his bicycle near her car.
He smiled at her while he was approaching her. She was worried, since nobody had stopped for hours. Moreover, he did not look safe, as his appearance was so poor with his rag. He could see how frightened she was, so he tried to pacify her, “I’m here to help you, don’t worry. I’m a car mechanic and live on the outskirts of the town.”
The tire was flat, so he needed to crawl under the car. After changing the tire, he got dirty and his hands were hurt.
When the job was done, she asked how much she owed him for his help. The man smiled. He said that whether she really wanted to pay him back, the next time she could help the needy and think of me.”
The man was standing on the left side of the road until she disappeared. The
lady was ashamed of what she thought about the man before. She said to herself, “I’ve never found such a kind person ever since.”
