Answer:

Better to be alone than in bad company

A father was worried that his son has fallen into bad company. He started picking up many bad habits. This wise father thought that it would be better not to scold him because quarreling will only make matter worse.

The father thought about what would be the best thing to do to make his son realise his error of keeping bad company. Finally he came up with a plan. He went to the market and purchased a bag of fresh apples and also a rotten one. On returning home he called his son. He asked his son to put the bag of apples along with the rotten one in the almirah. The son obeyed after all it was a difficult thing to do. After some days the father asked his son to bring the bag of apples. The son brought the bag and placed it on the table near his father. His father told him to open the bag. As the son opened the bag he was surprised to see that all the apples have become rotten.

The father gently explained that one rotten apple have spoiled all the other good apples in the bag. In the same way one bad friend could spoil all the other good boys and girls. The boy immediately understood the lesson that his father was trying to teach him. He decided to change his old ways. He stopped mingling with his bad companions and became a good son. He realised that it is better to be alone than in bad company.
