Answer:
I was in Kota, preparing for IIT-JEE. One evening as I reached for my class and parked my bicycle, my phone rang. It was my elder cousin’s call. My heart skipped a beat. 6 pm was not the time he would usually call, and things weren't good at home.
I picked up the phone. He asked me about my whereabouts (in a very nervous and hurried tone) and asked if I could leave for Nagpur the same day. I asked “How is Papa?” He didn't reply well to that question and told me to leave for Nagpur the same day itself. I told him to give the phone to my mother. Her reply was no different. “Just leave today”, she said.
My heart was panting hard and I left from there. The problem was that I had no sufficient money. I had ₹50 with me and ₹200 in my bank account. The train ticket costed around ₹220, which meant I was to be left around with only ₹30. There was an ATM (SBBJ) at Gaurav Tower square, a very famous and the most crowded.
In all panic situation I reached there, I had to withdraw those 200 bucks and had to leave from there asap to get my things packed. When I reached the ATM, it was much more crowded than usual, would be around 30–35 people standing there in no queue. I saw two to three people inside the ATM room, they were reparing the machine. Apparently, it stopped functioning again. I was so panicked already, I didn't have sufficient nerves to pedal and go to a farther ATM. After standing there for a minute or two, just when I was about to leave, I saw the man from inside came out. I thought the machine got repaired. He glanced through the crowd, pointed at me directly and told me to come inside. He told me to check if it was working fine. I inserted the card, put in the pin, entered the amount; two hundred rupees notes came out. I took that money and turned back. Just behind me, stood another person, who was then told to check for himself too.
As I came out of the room, and was about to leave, I saw the man came out disappointedly and those 3 people who were reparing the machine, came out, pulled the shutter down and told the machine had stopped working completely.
Considering the number of people those who were standing there, and the efforts and apparatus of the servicemen, it indicated that the machine had gone bad for a long time. When that man chose me to come to check it, I was standing not in front, not in the last of the crowd.
I was a random pick from the crowd, and that machine worked well only for me.
Probability and luck shook hands, converted themselves in to miracle.
