Flamingos are calm and lovely water birds with bright pink-orange feathers They are social creatures and live in groups called flocks or colonies to protect themselves from predator. The pink and orange colour of their feathers is due to the pigment present in the algae and the crustaceans that the flamingos feed on.
The flamingos are found in warm regions . They live and breed in mud flate and lagoon.These birds are all with long lean and curved necks. They bury their bills and suck up the water with the food. A filter like structure present in the beak helps to separate the food from the liquid.
Their long legs allow them to wade much deeper in water in other birds for food.They also use their legs to stir the shallow water to find food. The webbed feet support them as they stand in the soft mud and also help them swim.
