- The transfer of the capital from Delhi to Daulatabad in the Decan in 2327 ce: This was done because Daulatabad was centrally located and would help the Sultan control the empire better.
- Introduction of a token currency: Muhammad bin Tughlaq schemes and projects were a huge drain of royal treasury. In order to overcome this drain he issued bronze and silver coins of the same face value as the gold and silver coins that was already in circulation in the empire.

- Muhammad bin Tughlaq was succeeded by his cousin Firuz Shah Tughlaq ( reigned 1351-1388 ce).
- He undertook very few military campaigns but took a number of humanitarian measures to improve the conditions of the people, such as setting up hospitals, and providing employment opportunities.
- The decline of Tughlaq Dynasty began after the death of Firuz Shah Tughlaq in 1388 ce. Rebellions broke out through the Delhi Sultanate and the successors of Firuz Shah Tughlaq proved too weak to control them.
