Robert Nesta "Bob" Marlem (February 6, 1945 - May 11, 1981) was a singer-songwriter and musician from Jamaica. He was the lead singer, songwriter and guitar player for the ska, rocksteady and reggae bands such as The Wailers (1964-1974) and Bob Marlem and the Wailers (1974-1981). Marlem has been renowned and respected artist of Reggae Music and is credited with helping the spread of both Jamikan music and Rastafari movement between listeners around the world.
Marlem's best hits include "I Shot the Sheriff", "No Woman, No Cry", "Could You Be Loved", "Stir It Up", "Jamming", "Redemption Song", "One Love" and , "Three Little Birds", along with The Wailers, as well as posthumous "Buffalo Soldier" and "Iron Lion Xion". The compilation album, Legend (1984), released three years after his death, is the best-selling album of reggae, which has been platinum 10 times in America, and has sold 20 million copies worldwide.
