Apart from the myogenic control exercised on the heart beat by the nodal tissues , the heart beat is also regulated by two control system so that the rate of heart beat can be adjusted according to the body needs.

(1) Nervous control :- The rate of heart Beat as well as the strength of the beat are under two cardiovascular centres of the autonomic nervous system

(a) cardiac acceleratory :- it is associated with the sympathetic nerve fibres which,in turn, are associated with the S.A. node

(b) cardiac inhibitory centre :- it is associated with the parasympathetic nerve fibres which in turn , are associated with the S.A. node

(2) Hormonal control :- it consists of two amine --. epinephrine,norepinephrine which are secreted by adrenal medulla of adrenal gland.

Both harmones accelerate the rate of heart beat but operate in different conditions.

* Epinephrine increases the heart beat during emergency conditions

*Norepinephrine increases heart beat during normal condition.
