Arithmetic and geometric are different types of progressions.
example- Write down the 8th term in the Geometric Progression 1, 3, 9, .
 Find the sum of
each of the geometric.
another example-
0.234523452345... is a recurring decimal because the number 2345 is repeated periodically.

an arithmetic progression (AP) or arithmetic sequence is a sequence of ... and the common difference of successive members is d, then the nth term of the sequence ( a n {\display style a_{n} . a number common to all of them; that is, infinite arithmetic progressions form a Helly family Kinds of series.

The two different types of progressions are arithmetic and geometric progressions.

Arithmetic Progressions.. If you have the sequence 3, 9, 15, 21, 27 then each term is 6 more than the previous term. This is an example of an arithmetic progression.
Formula... Sn= n/2(a+l)

Geometric progressions.. If you have a sequence such as: 81, 27, 9, 3, 1, 1/3, 1/9,... then each term is one third of the term before.

hope this helps you...
