Answer:

The main external factors are temperature, light, oxygen supply, water supply, CO2 concentration, toxic and stimulating substances and disease and injury. The internal factors include the amount of respirable material and respiratory enzymes, acidity of the cell sap and activity of the organism.

The factors affecting respiration are both external and internal.

External factors affecting respiration are mentioned below:

\small{ \boxed{ \underline{ \rm{ \red{Temperature}}}}} : The rate of respiration becomes low at temperature below 20° celcius and above 45° celcius. The optimum temperature for respiration is from 20° celcius to 45° celcius.

\small{ \boxed{ \underline{ \rm{ \red{Oxygen }}}}} : In aerobic respiration, pyruvic acid is oxidised into CO_2 and H_2O.So, aerobic respiration cannot be carried out without oxygen.

\small{ \boxed{ \underline{ \rm{ \red{Water}}}}} : The supply of optimum amount of water keeps in respiration its normal state. If the supply of water is too little of too much, respiration is inhibited.

\small{ \boxed{ \underline{ \rm{ \red{Light}}}}} : Though light is not required for respiration, the rate of respiration is higher in day light, because the exchange of CO_2 and O_2 through stomata is easier since the stomata is open.

\small{ \boxed{ \underline{ \rm{ \red{Carbon dioxide}}}}} : If the amout of CO_2 in the air is increased the rate of respiration becomes slower.

The internal factors are mentioned below:

\small{ \boxed{ \underline{ \rm{ \red{Food meterials}}}}} : In respiration energy, water and CO_2 are produced by breaking down food meterials (respiratory substance), so the amount and types of food control the rate of respiration.

\small{ \boxed{ \underline{ \rm{ \red{Enzymes}}}}} : Many types of enzymes actively take part in the in the process of respiration. So, a deficiency of enzymes causes the rate of respiration to slow.

\small{ \boxed{ \underline{ \rm{ \red{Age\:of\:cells}}}}} : In young cells the greater amount of protoplasm cause respiration at a higher speed than in old cells.

\small{ \boxed{ \underline{ \rm{ \red{Organic\:salts}}}}} : Though some salts inhibit the process of respiration, some salts in the cells are essential for the running of normal activists of the cell and to drive the process of respiration.

\small{ \boxed{ \underline{ \rm{ \red{Intercellular\:water }}}}} : Water is necessary to dissolve different respitory substance to increase the effects of enzymes.
