IDEAL GAS EQUATION

A gas that would obey gas law's under all conditions of temperature and pressure is called an ideal gas . Here , we combine four measurable variables P, V, T and n to give a single equation.

V {`\propto` } n [ P ,T constant] Avogadro's law.

V {`\propto` }T [ n ,P constant] Charles law.

V {`\propto` } 1/P [ n ,T constant] Boyle's law.

P {`\propto` } T [ V , n constant] Gay - Lussac's law.

The combined gas law law can be written as V directly proportional nT/P or PV directly nT or PV = nRT this is called Ideal gas equation where R is the constant of proportionally or universal gas constant .

or,

when R equal to universal gas constant.

the value of R depends only unit in which it is written or it does not depends on nature of gas.

Value of' R' =

1}R= 0.0821litre atm degree^-1 mole^-1.

2} R= 2cals deg^-1 mole^-1.

3} R= 8.314 JK^-1 mole^-1
