About : Indus Valley Civilization

✯ Dayaram Sahni first discovered Harappa in 1921.

✯ RD Banerjee discovered Mohenjodaro in 1922.

✯ major sites in Pakistan are Harappa ,Mohenjodaro Chanhu-Daro , etc. in India major sites are Lothal, Rangpur and Surkotda Kali Kalibangan , Banwani and Alamgirpur.

Town Planning :

✯ Elaborate town. Planning it follows the grid system. Road well cut , dividing the town into large rectangular blocks.

✯ Used used burnt bricks of good quality.

✯In Mohenjodaro , a big public bath that is Great Bath measuring 12 m by 7 m and 2.4 m deep has been found.

Agriculture :

✯Grew wheat , barley , rai sesamum, mustard ,rice, cotton ,dates ,melon etc.

✯ Used wooden ploughs.

Religious Life :

✯ Main object of worship of mother goddess.

✯ Many trees like pipal, animals like bulls, birds like dove and pigeon and stones were worshipped.
