Louis XVI was the ruler of France when the french revolution began. The belonged to the Bourbon family. He was a really bad ruler and only supported members of the first and second estate. He was responsible for a debt of 6 Billion Livres in France as he freed 13 american colonies from the British. He was hated by the french people and they ended up revolting.
