Mangal pandey was an indian soldier who played a key part in events immediately preceding the outbreak of the Indian rebellion of 1857. He was a sepoy in the 34th Bengal native infantry regiment of British East Indian company.

He refused to accept the cartidge introduced by British, As the cover of cartidge had to tear then load in gun, but it was made up of cow and pig fat which was both unacceptable for hindu and Muslim, so he refused this and denied the cartidge and spread this thing between all the sepoy
