Metal + acid ⇨ salt + Hydrogen (gas) [most of the time ]

it is kind of replacement reaction.

Example :

Mg + HCl ⇨ MgCl_2 + H_2

Zn + H_2SO_4 ZnSO_4+ H_2

but,

Cu + HCl ⇨ No reaction.

cause, the location of the Cu is below hydrogen
