write about Respiration by using a Diagram
Answers
Answer:
After digestion the food is brought to the cell where it is broken down into carbon dioxide and water to release energy and this process is called respiration.
The process of respiration involves two steps:
Breathing and Cellular respiration..
Respiration:
Respiration is the involuntary, biochemical action, performed by the cells of the body. In mechanism, the glucose & oxygen are converted into water & carbon dioxide & thus releases energy in the form of ATP.
There are two types of respiration:
⏺️Aerobic
⏺️Anaerobic
Aerobic Respiration
In majority of the higher organisms, oxygen is sufficiently available inside the cell. Under such oxygen rich conditions, the pyruvate molecules enter the mitochondria and follow aerobic respiration. In aerobic respiration, pyruvate is completely oxidised into CO2 molecules. This respiration involves Kreb's cycle and ETC (Electron transport Chain).
Anaerobic Respiration:
⏺️In some organisms like yeast, the energy is released from the food, even in the absence of oxygen. This type of energy production is called anaerobic respiration.
⏺️During this process, the pyruvate molecules (formed in glycolysis),are not completely, oxidised.
⏺️Anaerobic respiration also takes place in our muscles when there is Oxygen deficiency. This deficiency occurs when we suddenly do some heavy exercise. To generate energy under such conditions, our muscles cells follow anaerobic respiration.(for a small time till the proper oxygen supply is maintained).
⏺️In case of our muscles, the end produce is lactic acid i.e, the pyruvate molecules give rise to another 3 carbon compound called lactic acid. There is no CO2 production.
