We have just read as to how rocks break down into soil over a long period of time.The uppermost layer of the earth that supports life and provides food for all is called soil.

Types of soil

1.Sandy soil

2.clayey soil

3.Loamy soil

1 Sandy soil-

Sandy soil has large-sized

particles and they do not fit closely. There are many gaps between the particles which are filled with air.

2.Clayer Soil-

clayer soil has very small -sized particles which are tightly packed together. It holds a large amount of water in the tiny gaps.

3.Loamy Soil -

Loamy soil is a mixture of Sandy and clayey soil and some medium -sized particles called silt.
