The animals of Rajasthan are the camel, Indian gazelle popularly known as Chinkaras; the Blue Bull which is called the Nilgai; several other varieties of antelopes; foxes; monkeys and several species of birds. The state also has a population of tigers and leopards.
The camel is the state animal of Rajasthan and mostly found in and around the Thar desert. The population of camels have been dropping drastically in recent years that the government has taken steps to conserve and improve the quality of breed of camels in the state.
