Archduke Franz Ferdinand, Archduke of Austria-Este was shot on June 28, 1914, Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina. Already, most of Europe was preparing for war by forming alliances. His death triggered a war which was known as "The War to End all Wars."
