One of the Sikh clans of Punjab is Ahluwalia.

The group was founded by Sadho Singh who worked as a wine distillery. Sadhu Singh took the title Ahluwalia as he was from the village of Ahlu.

He established the Kapurthala state.  All the Kalals changed the titles to Ahluwalia to upgrade their social status.
