Zend Avesta is the Holy book of Zoroastrianism. Zoroaster was the founder of this religion.Parsis use this book as their prayer book/Bible .
This book contains 5 parts -
i) The Yasna - Yasna means “sacrifice worship”. It is the principal ceremonial book of the Parsis. It contains 72 chapters(hait-i,ha).
ii) The Vispered - It is a minor ceremonial book. It contains 24 chapters(karde).
iii) The Vendidad - This part is the priestly code of the Parsis. It contains 22 chapters (fargard).
iv) The Yashts - Yashts means “songs of praise”. It contains 21 Izads in all.
v) The Khordah Avesta - Khordah Avesta means “little Avesta”. It contains a collection of short prayers.

The Indo - Iranian language belongs to the Indo - European language group. That language having been spoken for centuries gradually changed to take the form of different languages of the Indian subcontinent. Many local words have been absorbed. Sanskrit is one such language. At present there are no remaining traces of the original Indo - European language.
