Tourism has come up as an important industry of late in all the countries of the world. The tourism industry of Assam also has the great potentiality to attract tourists from within India and abroad.

Firstly, with rivers, hills, swamps and forests Assam has many places of scenic beauty which can attract tourists.It has places for adventure tourism.

Secondly, Assam has five national parks,22 wildlife sanctuaries and many reserved forests which harbour exotic plants and animals many of which are species,e.g. world famous one horn rhino, hoolock gibbon, feral horses and many more to attract tourists.

Thirdly, Assam has many holy places like Kamakhya,Umananda,Poa Macca etc. which can attract thousands of pilgrims

Fourthly, Assam has places with ancient and mediaeval historical and archeological remains at Sivasagar, Guwahati, Tezpur etc. which can also attract tourists,scholars and historians.

If the state can establish hotels, guest houses,lodges and motels for accommodation of tourists, provide comfortable transport and communication and put up cultural expos and fairs the tourism industry will able to flourish very soon.
