After few seconds where does tha salt or sugar goes . 
Result- the particals of sugar dissolve in the water.

Thus, the particles have space between them

Take one glass of water and after take one teaspoon of sugar/salt an mix it .You will observe that sugar/salt becomes invisible this means that the sugar/salt goes into the particles of water.
