Geotropism It is the growth of the parts of plants in response to the force of gravity. The upward growth of shoots shows negative geotropism where as the downward growth of roots shows positive geotropism. Activity-
(1) Fill a conical flask with water. (2) Cover the neck of the flask with a wire mesh. (3) Keep two or three freshly germinated bean seeds on the wire mesh. (4) Take a carboard box which is open from one side. (5) Keep the flask in the box in such a manner that coming from a window. (6) After two or three days, you will notice that the shoots bend towards light(away from gravity) and roots away from light (towards gravity) (7) Now turn the flask so that the shoots are away from light and the root towards light. Leave it undisturbed in this condition for a few days. (8) After few days it is found that the shoot is turned towards the light and roots towards gravity.
