Materials required - salt (sodium chloride), sugar( C6H12O6), alum salt (hydrated potassium aluminium sulphate),epsom salt (magnesium sulphate) and sodium acetate Procedure - Take a spoonful of each salt and dissolve in water in different glasses. Keep adding more spoons until the solutions cant dissolve more solute. Record the no. of spoons for each solution. This is called a saturated solution. A solution in which no more solute can be dissolved at a given temperature is called a saturated solution. Now see ur recording. The no . Of spoons r different concluding that each salt has a different saturation point. Now put the liquids in a boiling pan .Add some more salt when the liquids r strongly heated. See that the solutions can dissolve the salts concluding that as temperature increases a liquid can dissolve more solute and as temperature decreases a liquid can dissolve less solute. Now take the hot liquids and dip a solid thing into each liquid . Let it cool overnight and next day u can see crystals formed on that solid thing . This happens because the solution had a stronger dissolving power when it was heated. When the solution was cool it had less dissolving power but the amount of solute was same so it became saturated and the extra solute became solid and stuck to that solid thing. Conclusion - 1. Every salt has a different saturation point. 2. As temperature increases saturation point becomes higher as there is more space between molecules and as temperature decreases saturation point becomes lower as there is less space between molecules
