there r 2 applications of isotopes in field of medicine. ie
1.) An isotope of cobalt is used in the treatment of cancer.
2.) An isotope of iodine is used in the treatment of goitre.

Isotopes are atoms of the same element , with same atomic no: and different mass numbers.

Example : Carbon - 12 and Carbon - 14 isotopes.

Applications in medical field :-

-->An isotope of iodine is used in the treatment of goiter. Goitre is a disease which is caused due to the less amount of iodine in the food which we intake.

-->An isotope of cobalt is used in the treatment of cancer.

prmkulk1978: Radio isotopes are used as tracers in medicine to detect the presence of tumors and blood clots. Arsenic -74 tracer is used to detect the presence of tumours and Sodium-24 tracer is used to detect the presence of blood clots.
