We Indians often wonder whether there are enough number of days in a year for us to celebrate all our festivals. In fact, sometimes, two festivals are celebrated on the same day. There are several reasons for it. India has many religions, many cultures and rod many regions. The religion of the majority community is Hindu. Now Hindu have as many gods as you can count. They do not know themselves how many gods they bow to. Then there are several other religions such as Islam, Christianity, Sikhism, Buddhism etc. Every religion has its own festivals. That is not all. There are many regional festivals. Diwali is celebrated in the North. Pongal is celebrated in the South, Ganesh Chaturthi is celebrated in the West and Durga Pooja is celebrated in the East. Then there are national festivals like Mahatma Gandhi's birthday, Independence Day and Republic Day. Truly, India is a land of festivals.
