Well! My favourite personality is “Swami Vivekananda:” He was a great man. I regard him as a hero. He got all the qualities of a hero. I read many speeches of swami Vivekananda and his thought provoking writings. Vivekananda was born in 1865 into royal bengal family. He was born rich, but, later, he left everything and became a saint. He was well educated. Ramakrishna parama hamsa was his spiritual guru.
Vivekananda founded the mission called “Ramakrishna mission”. This mission undertakes many social activities.
Swami travelled many places across the world. He thought the world about Hindu religion. He remained unmarried throughout his life. Swami talks about self-confidence, the strength of mind and of body. Vivekananda says that nothing is impossible. He believes that faith unleashes power. I like his famous quotation “Arise, Awake and Stop not till the goal is reached”. I had not been self-confident before I read his writings. Vivekananda changed my way of thinking. I started realizing the power of positive thinking.
I had never thought of helping others. He preached that “serving our neighbour is equal to serving god”. For question “the existence of god” Vivekananda says that god lies within the heart of each one of us. Many of people fighting for their religions. So, Swami dreams about changing the plight of the then India. He asks 100 men of strong mind and muscles to change the fate of India.
The most inspiring thing about him is the speech at the parliament of religions, in 1893. His speech was electrical on the minds of Americans and it said that entire Chicago city was spell bound at his tremendous speech.
