intro. : undoubtedly the biggest problem of India is the population problem .it is the biggest problem because it is given birth to several other problems like illiteracy ,poverty , unemployment, food shortage , crimes etc.in present Time India is second largest populated country in the world ,with a population of more than 121.6 crores .

causes of over - population :there are several causes of overpopulation in India .illiteracy is the biggest cause.being illiterate people do not see the bad effects of overpopulation and go on having children until they get a male child . some other causes of overpopulation are - child marriage, family beliefs, high birth rate,low death rate, climate of india,compulsion of marriage, traditional and lack of standard of living.

bad effects of overpopulation :there are adverse effects of population on society as well as an individual .due to population growth problems such as poluution , trrafics , umemployment ,crimes , food shortage, etc are being seen.

remedies:the government has formulated a Population Policy .the family having only one or two child is considered as an ideal family .people should be made illiterate .so that they can understand the gravity of the problem
