Answer:

We travel for business. We travel for sightseeing. We travel for necessity. But a very few in our country travel to acquire knowledge.

In western countries travelling is a necessary part of education. Educational value of travelling can hardly be described. Bacon says that travelling in, younger age is a part of education, in the elder, a part of experience.

Travelling teaches us better than books. Sense organ is not very powerful factor. The eyes are very essential in learning.

We read of the existence, in the past, of a university called Nalanda. They say that there were one hundred lecture rooms. We think this a fact of Imagination. Run to the spot. Your doubt will at once be removed.

Travelling gives us an opportunity for getting practical experience of the world. Pope, the poet, sings that the proper study of mankind is man.

The traveler comes into contact with various types of people. If a traveler moves about with keen eyes and the open door of his mind he can get a lot of knowledge about men and things which no book can give.

Nobody can under-estimate the educational value of travelling. Travelling is a better teacher than books. It confirms one’s bookish and theoretical knowledge. It helps us to learn things in an easier, more lasting and more lucid manner. Think of a student who has actually seen the Taj. Is he not much better placed to write about the Taj than any of his class-fellows who has never been to Agra? Travelling gives first- hand information about things places, persons and events. IT provides an opportunity for acquiring practical knowledge of men and matters and enables a person to fight the battle of life in a more successful way. Travelling is essential for the healthy growth of the mind. Tagore write : “The health of the mind cannot be maintained on the ration of books served up in motionless classes within the prison walls of a static school.”
