It allows accountability of politicians Without elections, it is very difficult to hold our politicians to account. If there is no responsiveness to sanction from politicians, they begin to be more corrupt and do not NEED to listen to those whom they represent. It is very easy to run away with less representative and more extreme policies if there is no fear of recall. The Communist ideal of no elections where people can simply represent themselves in one big egalitarian society is one that, in theory, seems beautiful and cuts out unnecessary bureaucracy, but in practice is one that makes politicians an elite few, even more detached from society and immune to popular accountability
