Cinema is a major source of recreation in most countries of the world especially in India where the majority of people live below poverty line. It provides us with entertainment and sometimes educates us too. Depending on the quality of films produced by the directors, one could label cinema as a curse or a boon.

Bombay is the main centre of film city. Films are mainly produced in Bombay. There are hundreds of them produced every year. India is known to be the highest producer of movies in the world. Indian cinema provides us with a good view of the glamour and glitter of the affluent Indian society and also the poverty and misery in the slums of this country.

Hence, it more or less, with a few exceptions, presents a fairly authentic picture of the lives of Indians. It educates the public with the help of stories that depict conflicts between the good and the evil in our society. There is some sort of a moral lesson behind these stories and the society is often greatly influenced by these values.

First of all, Cinema now a days became a part of our life. We cannot imagine a world without cinema. In words Cinema is a life. Which gives life to many characters and create an imaginary world. People mostly watch Cinema for entertainment. In this world no human exists without watching a single movie. In India the cinema exists from the epics as many dramas, plays were performed which are part of cinema.

Cinema contains all type of emotions. It also consists comedy, romance, action, thrills etc. A cinema not only highlights these features but also conveys a special message to the spectators and audience. A cinema can give a message about social evils in the society, problems, poverty, humanity. It can teach people about various things of life like social and moral values, ethics, affection, religious tolerance, high thinking, regard for the elderly and women, advantages of joint family system etc.

Cinema shows many issues like politics, terrorism, naxalism etc. Cinema connects many people in a thread. Cinema connects culture to culture, society to society and religion to religion. Cinema promote the feelings like patriotism, harmony, unity. Cinema helps in refreshing a mind of tired people. Cinema helps in connecting two countries. Cinema shows the different cultures of different geographical areas.

People enjoy in watching movies. Kids enjoy the fights of their super heroes. Elders enjoy watching movie of olden legends. From the movie Alam Ara till now in India nearly 1 lakh movies were produced in the public interest. Cinema helps in responding the people towards bad and encourage towards good. Cinema highlights some great unknown personalities to motivate the people. Watching a cinema is easy but understanding the concept is very hard. A movie contains it's own message whether it may be a patriotic or moral or human relations.

Movie helps in acquiring knowledge. Some movies encourages the students to continue their study without any fail. Some movies encourage a poor to continue his livelihood. Some movies encourage the woman to work hard and gain freedom and equality in all. Some movies encourage the people who are interested in sports to achieve success.

As, where there is good there is bad. Along with advantages movie has disadvantages also. Movie highlights some scenes on crime which encourage the people to practice these. Some movies show the tricks of robbery which encourage a robber to steal. Some scenes on crime, sex etc. Even the children of poor wants to look like his favourite actor or actress.

Some songs, scenes, videos are not so good to the kids which damages them mentally. As, movie encourage the western culture which discourage the Indian and local culture. Some movies tell bad on the moral values on teacher, woman, parents. Some Youngs focus on the bad habits like smoking, drinking etc. Some youngs die due to the practice of stunts like their heroes.

Finally, I conclude that Cinema has advantages and disadvantages. But the disadvantages cannot overcome the advantages of the cinema. So, Cinema is boon and bane.
