                         Conquering the Wicked with Goodness

Goodness is divine; wickedness is evil. Goodness is the only power through which wickedness can be overcome permanently. The entire literature of the world teaches us the invincible power of goodness. Almost all cultures, faiths, religions, and creeds of the world lay stress on following goodness.

Jesus taught goodness to mankind in his Gospel. Buddha taught goodness to his followers. Vedas too glorify goodness. All saints, prophets, sages, poets, seers, philosophers, and wise people of all ages taught only goodness. Most of them were epitomes of goodness and successfully overcome wickedness with their magnanimous deeds. Jesus prayed for his persecutors who were nailing him on the cross. His beatitude is pure goodness that he taught to mankind.

Similarly Buddha taught people to always believe, do, speak, and think of goodness. These sages were divinely inspired and having learnt from experience, they knew wickedness could only be overcome thorough goodness. Hence, in all the stories, the hero is embodiment of all good virtues and succeeds in overcoming the villain through goodness.

History itself is a witness to the fact that goodness always defeated wickedness. All the villains of mankind who inflicted pain, injustice, sufferings, and wars on mankind were defeated by those who believed in goodness. It could be World War II or the current ongoing war against terrorism in Iraq, Afghanistan and Syria, wickedness was defeated by goodness.

There is a beautiful story titled The Rat Trap that highlights the argument quite appropriately. This story describes the transformation of a wicked vagabond into a good human being. This transformation is brought about by the good and kind treatment he receives from Edla Willmanson. Mahatma Gandhi used this power of goodness to win freedom for India. It is for his good frredom struggle that he is remembered all across the world.

Even in real life, we find teachers or parents who treat their students and children with wise affection and understanding, have stronger influence on them. On the contrary parents and teachers who treat children inconsiderately and aggressively, fail to bring about the desired changes in them.

In conclusion it can be said that the wholesome power of goodness is omnipotent.
