Explanation:

Results:

- As the water is heated, convection currents start to flow in the water. The dye helps us to see these convection currents.

Conclusion:

Answer:

Conduction is a mode of heat transfer where molecules transfer heat by colliding with the next molecule.

Explanation:

To perform the experiment,

  • Things required : A knife, few metal pins, candle, matchsticks.
  1. Light a candle and keep it for a few minutes.
  2. Take a knife and attach few pins to the metal part of the knife using candle wax in such a way that they are equidistant but are not overlapping.
  3. Wait for 10 mins or until the wax hardens.
  4. Heat the tip of the knife for some time . ( Make sure  to heat the empty part i.e the part which isn't connected to pins).
  5. After some time , you can notice the pins falling off one by one.
  • Conclusion:

Therfore, we can conclude that the pins fell off due to heat transfer via conduction. As the molecules from the tip of the knife started vibrating due to heat given from candle, the molecules collided with their neighbouring molecules and so on causing a smooth line of transfer of heat making the pins to fall one by one.
