Write an expression that is equivalent to three over five (3y + 15).

Let us solve the question

∵ Three over five means  

∴ Three over five (3y + 15) =  (3y + 15)

→ By using the distributive property, multiply each term inside the

  bracket by three over 5

∴   (3y + 15) =   (3y) +  (15)

→ Multiply three over five by 3y

∵   (3y) =   (y) =   y

→ Multiply three over five by 15

∵   (15) =   =   = 9

∴   (3y) +  (15) =  y + 9

∴  (3y + 15) =    y + 9

∴ The equivalent to three over five (3y + 15) is   y + 9
